My Campaign Platforms
Alberta municipal council members should prioritize the well-being of their municipality and its residents. They should strive to foster a strong sense of community, promote economic development, and ensure efficient service delivery. This includes using common sense while considering the interests of the municipality as a whole, participating in policy and program development, and adhering to ethical standards of conduct.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Town Council should champion initiatives that support local businesses, attract new investment, and foster job creation. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs—both new and established—often encounter excessive red tape and bureaucratic obstacles when trying to open or sustain a business in our community.
As a Council member, my goal is to collaborate with fellow Councillors and Town of Strathmore staff to develop a “Welcome to Strathmore” business guide. This resource would clearly outline the steps, requirements, and contacts necessary for starting or maintaining a business—making the process more transparent, efficient, and business-friendly.
By removing barriers and offering clear guidance, we can build a more vibrant, resilient local economy.
SPORTS
Currently, youth sports rank low among the Top 20 priorities for Strathmore Town Council. Yet, the need for investment in our local sports infrastructure is clear.
As a growing community, we need sport facilities to attract tournaments, which is something our town lacks. I hope to use common sense when making decisions on buildings and infrastructure that bring in tournaments.
Limitations don’t just affect athletes—they impact our entire community. Tournaments generate significant economic benefits, supporting local hotels, restaurants, and small businesses.
When families consider relocating, one of the top factors—after education—is access to quality sports and recreation.
Strathmore has all the ingredients to thrive as a sports-focused community. What’s missing is stronger advocacy at the Council level. It's time for youth sports to become a higher priority in the town’s long-term planning.
FINANCIAL PRUDENCE
Serving as a Council member means being one voice and one vote among many, within a collaborative decision-making process. I am committed to working closely with my fellow Councillors to make fiscally responsible and well-informed budgetary decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
Key areas of focus include snow removal, infrastructure, parks and recreation, and public safety—all essential to maintaining a high quality of life for residents.
